ServiceYak vs Jobber
Jobber is one of the biggest home-service platforms in the world, and it doesn't price in Australian dollars. ServiceYak is $37 a seat in AUD, ex GST, with every feature on one plan. Here's the comparison, using Jobber's own published pricing.
Jobber and ServiceYak, side by side
Jobber is a genuinely good product with a scale we can't match — a mature North American platform with a marketing suite, an AI receptionist, a sales pipeline and dedicated onboarding on its top plan. Nothing on this page is an argument that Jobber is bad software, because it isn't.
The differences that matter to an Australian buyer are more basic than features. Jobber publishes prices in US dollars only, with no Australian pricing and no region selector. Their plans put features behind four tiers, and their cost model is a base plan plus US$29 a month for each extra user. ServiceYak is $37 per user per month in Australian dollars, ex GST, with every feature on one plan and no base charge underneath the seats.
All Jobber figures on this page are USD, taken from their own pricing page and checked in August 2026. We haven't converted any of them, and this page runs no seat-by-seat cost comparison for the same reason — see the pricing section below.
They don't price in your currency
There is no AUD option on Jobber's pricing page and no region selector to reveal one. For an Australian business that means the subscription is a US-dollar charge on an Australian card: an exchange rate you don't control, usually an international transaction fee on top, and a bill that changes month to month without anyone changing the plan.
It also means the invoice your bookkeeper receives is in the wrong currency for your books, with no GST on it to claim. ServiceYak bills in AUD, ex GST, on a GST-itemised invoice — which is a dull sentence and a genuinely useful one at BAS time.
Four tiers, and the gates are steep
Jobber's feature gating is heavier than most. From their own published plan comparison, checked August 2026:
- QuickBooks Online sync, checklists, time and expense tracking, and automatic reminders start at Connect (US$80/mo annual, US$139 monthly).
- Job costing, two-way SMS, visual quotes and custom automations start at Grow (US$120/mo annual, US$199 monthly) — which also caps out at 10 users.
- Marketing Suite, AI Receptionist, Pipeline and dedicated onboarding are Plus only (US$320/mo annual, US$499 monthly).
Core, at US$24 a month on annual billing, is a genuinely cheap way in — but a business that then wants its accounting to sync, or wants to know what a job actually cost, is looking at two upgrades, not one.
ServiceYak has one plan. Checklists, timesheets, quote and invoice reminders, Xero and QuickBooks sync and 16 reports across four suites are all in it, on every seat, from day one.
Base plan plus seats, against seats
Jobber's plans include one user (Plus includes 15), and every additional user is US$29 a month on top of the plan. So the cost of taking someone on is the seat *plus* whatever the plan already costs — and on Grow you can only do that nine times before you hit the tier's 10-user ceiling and have to move up.
We're per-seat too, and we're not going to pretend that's free. The difference is that it's flat: $37 a seat, no base charge underneath it, no ceiling on any tier because there's only one plan, and seats you can add and drop as the season moves.
One more thing worth knowing before you commit: Jobber's annual prepaid billing is non-refundable if you cancel early, per their own terms. ServiceYak is monthly or annual, cancel any time, and take your data with you.
What Jobber does that we don't
Several things, and one of them is the reason a lot of people buy Jobber in the first place.
- A marketing suite and an AI receptionist. Jobber's Plus plan includes campaign tooling and an AI receptionist that answers calls. We have enquiry forms that capture a lead and alert you; that is a much smaller thing and we're not going to dress it up as the same product.
- A sales pipeline. Lead-stage tracking through to won work. We track quotes through to accepted, which is not the same as a pipeline.
- Dedicated onboarding. A person assigned to get you set up, on Plus. Ours is self-serve with chat support.
- Maturity and scale. Jobber has been at this far longer, across a much bigger market, with the depth of integrations and polish that buys. We're new. That's a real difference and no feature table hides it.
Feature comparison
| Feature | ServiceYak | Jobber | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Currency | AUD, ex GST, GST-itemised invoice | USD only — no AU pricing, no region selector | An FX rate and an international fee sit on top, and there's no GST to claim. |
| Plans | One plan, every feature | Four tiers: Core, Connect, Grow, Plus | You can't need a feature and not have it. |
| Seat model | $37 a seat, flat, no base charge | Base plan (1 user; Plus includes 15) + US$29 per extra user | Taking someone on costs the seat, not the seat plus the plan. |
| User ceiling | None | Grow caps at 10 users | Growing past a tier shouldn't force a plan change. |
| Accounting sync | Xero and QuickBooks, included | QuickBooks Online sync from Connect | Your books shouldn't be a tier upgrade. |
| Job costing | Included | Grow and above | Knowing what a job cost is how you price the next one. |
| Checklists | Job and visit checklists, included | From Connect | A checklist is a basic field tool, not an upgrade. |
| Time tracking | Clock on/off timesheets, included | Time and expense tracking from Connect | Labour is most of your cost. Track it on day one. |
| Automatic reminders | Quote and invoice reminders, email and SMS, included | From Connect | Chasing quotes and invoices is where the money is. |
| Commitment | Monthly or annual, cancel anytime | Annual prepaid is non-refundable if cancelled early | A year's prepayment is a bet on a product you've used for 14 days. |
| Free trial | 30 days, no card, full plan | 14 days on Grow, no card | A month of real work tells you more than a fortnight. |
| AI meeting summaries | Record on site, get a sendable recap | ✗ | The site walk-through writes itself up. |
| Marketing suite and AI receptionist | ✗ | Marketing Suite, AI Receptionist and Pipeline on Plus | If you want your software to answer the phone and run campaigns, they do that and we don't. |
| Onboarding | Self-serve, with chat support | Dedicated onboarding on Plus | Someone assigned to set you up is worth real money to some businesses. |
Rows marked Jobber wins are the ones where they beat us outright. Their column was checked in August 2026.
Pricing, and why there's no seat table here
Every other comparison on this site ends in a table of worked seat costs. This one can't have one, and the reason is the argument.
Jobber's published pricing is in US dollars and there is no Australian option. To put their cost next to ours at three seats, we'd have to pick an exchange rate, apply it, and publish the result as a fact about a named company — on a rate that moves every day and doesn't include whatever your bank adds on top. That's an inference dressed up as a citation, and we won't do it.
So here are both sets of published numbers, unconverted, exactly as each of us publishes them.
- ServiceYak — $37 AUD per user per month ex GST, or $370 AUD per user per year ($30.83 a month). Every feature. No base charge, no seat minimum, no ceiling.
- Jobber, from their pricing page — Core US$24/mo annual (US$49 monthly), Connect US$80 (US$139), Grow US$120 (US$199, max 10 users), Plus US$320 (US$499, 15 users included). Each plan includes one user except Plus; extra users are US$29/mo each.
If you want the comparison in dollars you can spend, take the Jobber tier that carries the features you need, add US$29 for each seat past the first, convert it at the rate your own bank gives you on the day, and put it next to $37 × seats. That's a calculation only you can do accurately — which is rather the point.
Switching from Jobber
The runbook is the same as any job app move, with one Jobber-specific note at the top.
- Check where you are in an annual prepayment. Jobber's annual prepaid billing is non-refundable if you cancel early. If you're mid-term, the cheapest move is usually to run both for the remainder rather than write off the balance — a ServiceYak trial is 30 days and free, so there's no rush.
- Export before you cancel. Client list and job history out while the subscription is live. Afterwards it's a support ticket, if it's possible at all.
- Work out what migrates and what gets retyped. Client and item lists usually import cleanly. Historical jobs, attachments and photos usually don't — keep the old account read-only for a month rather than assume.
- Rebuild rates and line items first. That's the asset that makes quoting fast. Load your kits and templates before you quote anything real.
- Reconnect the books and test one invoice end to end. Connect Xero or QuickBooks, raise one real invoice, and check it lands on the right account before you trust it with a month's work.
- Move at a quiet point in the year. Not mid-build, and not in December.
